The Islamic Social Services Association (ISSA) is hiring a Social Events Coordinator to join our Social Programming & Outreach Team (SocialPoT) for the summer of 2025. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with the community to create meaningful, inclusive, and culturally relevant programming for Muslim youth, women, and families.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community building, event planning, and amplifying the voices and needs of those often left out of mainstream programming.

Role Overview

As the Social Events Coordinator, you will play a key role in helping ISSA plan and deliver a variety of summer events—ranging from youth leadership gatherings and women’s wellness circles to Eid celebrations, art-based healing programs, and community open houses. Your work will focus on creating safe, welcoming, and empowering spaces where Muslim youth and women can connect, express themselves, and build resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate social and cultural events for youth, women, and families

  • Handle logistics such as venues, supplies, volunteer coordination, and set-up

  • Promote events through digital and print materials (Canva, Instagram, Facebook, flyers)

  • Support and organize community open houses to raise awareness about ISSA’s programs and services

  • Maintain registration lists and collect participant feedback

  • Assist with program evaluation and reporting

  • Work collaboratively with ISSA staff, community partners, and participants

Qualifications and Experience

  • Interest or experience in event planning, youth work, or community outreach (volunteer or paid)

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Comfortable using Canva, social media, Google Docs, or willing to learn

  • Familiarity with Muslim communities and cultural considerations

  • Creativity, initiative, and a passion for building inclusive spaces

  • Lived experience navigating access barriers is considered an asset

Why Join ISSA?

This role offers more than a summer job. It’s an opportunity to work on programs that matter, in a supportive and inclusive environment that values community knowledge, creativity, and care. At ISSA, you’ll be part of a team working to break down barriers, amplify youth voices, and build a stronger, more connected community.
